LifePlace is a response to the swirl of brokenness, chaos, questioning, confusion and trauma that makes up what is called life for many people in our world.
Could it possibly be the case that we are left alone to make sense of this life, stumbling our way through for what is, in the broad scheme of things, a mere moment, only to disappear into nothingness forever?
No. In spite of the craziness and confusion that seems to be on the increase around us, we believe there is a source that explains the purpose, meaning and problems of life.
Even so, we are in an age where that source is being increasingly ignored and drowned out by a flood of distraction. It is not the first time this has happened nor will it be the last. History moves in repetitive cycles and there is a lot of truth to the proverb that "there is nothing new under the sun". It just comes back around in new packaging.
Let me draw your attention to the fact that the Bible lays out tremendous truth claims which lie there for us to ignore or investigate.
If you will keep in mind that almost everything in this age is designed to make you dismiss, disregard, disrespect and disparage the Bible, you will understand why you have likely never given it serious consideration. And that, my friend is a serious mistake.
While our modern age careens ever more rapidly into fantasy and delusion, the Bible remains the key to having our feet based on the solid ground of reality, both for the past and for the future.
Skeptical of that? I wouldn't be surprised, but something has to make sense out of life, unless it is all just one big accident -- and deep down nobody really buys that.
I invite you to seriously explore the claims laid out in the Bible even if your aim is to discredit them. I will draw on the intellectual resources of great men from the past such as Francis Schaeffer and C.S. Lewis, as well as contemporary spokesmen such as Frank Turek, John Lennox and William Lane Craig among many others, to try to make clear the message that this age seems desperate to obscure.
Most of the writing you will find here originates with me, although what you get from me is sourced in great teachers and thinkers that have influenced me over the years. I speak from within the perspective of the historical evangelical Christian church, hence sometimes I'm speaking as 'we' instead of 'me', but I did put all of this website together and so will have to take responsibility for any oversights or mistakes.
My name is Grant Fox. I hold a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, and did graduate study in philosophy at the University of Kentucky. I have been a pastor for many years both in the Southern Baptist realm and in the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Throughout that time I have worked with the homeless, emotionally trouble teens, prison populations, the world of drug and alcohol recovery, internationals both here and abroad, and dealing with the many issues of ordinary people in everyday life, I may not have seen it all, but if I haven't, I don't want to imagine what it is.
I'm here to tell you that all of this exists in a world that is not a free-for-all, but has a definite framework rooted in a universal reality that is not up for grabs. If you are tired of floating in chaos and uncertainty, come into LifePlace and find your way to the solid footing of unshakeable reality.
